Your First Visit

From the moment you step into our beautifully designed office, you’ll instantly recognize that we’re not your average dental practice. Here’s a step-by-step overview of what to expect during your unforgettable first visit:

• Our warm and welcoming staff will greet you as you arrive at our office. The soothing aromatherapy and contemporary ambiance will immediately put you at ease. You’ll be offered a beverage from our refreshment bar to enjoy during your visit, and we’ll ensure you have completed all necessary paperwork and answer any initial questions you may have. It is recommended that you complete the required forms prior to your first appointment. If not, please arrive fifteen additional minutes early to your appointment in order to do so.

• Once all paperwork is in order, we’ll escort you to a comfortable room where you will initially meet with Dr. Triplett to discuss any problems, concerns, or goals regarding your oral health and your smile. After, we will begin the diagnostic process, which starts with several low dose digital radiographs (x-rays). These help to identify any potential issues that might not be visible to the naked eye. X-rays will often help us find problems in the early stages, before they become symptomatic and require more costly and extensive treatment. The amount and types you require will depend on the availability of any x-rays from recent dental visits at other offices.

• Charting and photography: We’ll continue our comprehensive evaluation with both a series of extra-oral (outside the mouth) and intraoral (inside the mouth) photographs to better show you any clinical findings. We’ll also be charting (documenting the condition of your teeth, surrounding structures, and any existing dental work). Charting includes a periodontal exam, which involves measuring the distance between the tops of the gums and your bone level, which helps us to determine the existence of gum issues like gingivitis or periodontal disease.

• Next, Dr. Triplett will perform a thorough examination, assessing your oral health, reviewing your x-rays and photographs and any previous findings. She will discuss any findings with you in-depth, utilizing the images we previously took. Together, you will come up with a plan for moving forward to achieve your goals and maintain excellent oral health. A team member will present you with a treatment plan along with estimated fees. If your dental needs are extensive, we may schedule a follow-up appointment to discuss your treatment options in further detail.

• If time permits, we’ll complete your visit with a professional dental cleaning. However, if your appointment has been extensive or you require more advanced periodontal care, we may need to schedule a separate appointment for your cleaning to ensure we have adequate time to address all your needs. During the cleaning, you’re invited to enjoy some of our additional amenities: watch one of our ceiling-mounted TVs and ensure you can hear your favorite show through the available headphones. Our safety glasses will protect your eyes from any inadvertent splashes, or you could always opt for one of our soothing eye masks. The warm towel you’ll be provided at the end will make you think you just had a spa treatment instead of a dental cleaning.
